Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame

Building A Hall of Fame Case For Lou Whitaker (Part 3, Modern Era Matchup)

So far, we’ve examined Lou Whitaker’s resume in part one and how it stacks up against other Hall of Fame second basemen in part 2.  For the third part I’ll take a closer look at Hall of Fame second basemen during including slight before and after) Sweet Lou’s era.  The list includes Joe Morgan who…

Building A Hall of Fame Case For Lou Whitaker (Part 2)

As did with building the case for Alan Trammell, next I’ll compare the best, worst, and average for key stat categories and where Lou Whitaker fits in amongst second basemen in the Hall (20 currently).  Additionally, I’ll add in Ryne Sandberg based on Baseball-Reference.com and the three most similar batters to Lou in his career,…

Building A Hall of Fame Case For Lou Whitaker (Part 1)

Now that Tram is headed to the Hall of Fame, let’s start to take a look and see if a case can’t be made for Trams double play partner, Lou Whitaker. Lets start off with how we started for Tram with an article written by Yahoo Sports in 2011 about the 10 greatest home grown…

Alan Trammell & Jack Morris Headed To The Hall Of Fame & It’s About Time

I’m sure most, if not all Detroit Tigers fans know by now, but what couldn’t be agreed on by the Baseball Writers America Association (BBWAA), was easily agreed on by the “Modern Era” cimmmittee, and that is Alan Trammell and Jack Morris are Hall of Fame worthy. The Modern Era committee works as a second…

1960-Present Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame Results

With voting closed for the 1960-Present Detroit Tigers, we only had 4 Hall of Famers (tough crowd!) make the required 75% of the vote.  As you can imagine, unanimous selections were Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker.  Our 3rd and 4th Tiger Hall of Famers from the vote was came in at 89% of the vote and…

Vote For The Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame ; 1960-Present Voting Open

Well we know where the BBWAA sits on players like Alan Trammell and Jack Morris, but what if the Tigers had a Hall of Fame?  Who would be in it?  Below is a vote where you can only select 10 players over a half century of Tiger baseball, so would it be?  Adding a couple…

Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame Results; Pre-60’s

There weren’t many recognizable names in the pre-60’s selection, however there was a constant when it came to voting.  Following very similar rules to the traditional voting for the Baseball Hall of Fame, 75% or better of voting is needed to get in to my hypothetical Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame. Without further ado, your Detroit…

About Shaneo42

A Detroit Tigers fan through and through which started out around the age of 7 during the 1984 Tiger season and watching games with my dad. That year started an obsession for me with baseball, where I wanted to watch, learn, and play as much as possible to this day. I played some high school ball, rode the pine in college and co-created and wrote Pepper Baseball Blog for eight years. It's time for a fresh start for myself, the blog, and our readers hopefully as I write about the Tigers, Baseball, and my hobby Baseball cards. I hope you enjoy!
