2015 Detroit Tigers First Year Draft Results

Burrows, BeauThe MLB Draft wrapped up last week and once again the Tigers went for power arms as they’ve been known to do.  A pair of “1st” round picks netted the Tigers Beau Burrows, a 6’2″ right handed pitcher out of Weatherford High School in Texas with the 22nd pick.  As compensation for losing Max Scherzer, the Tigers then selected Christin Stewart, an outfielder out of Tennessee.

Detroit stuck to mostly college players with three high school players selected in the first 29 rounds.

Other notable picks included Kirk Gibson’s son in the 5th round, Nick Castellanos brother in the 25th, and Al Kaline’s grandson in the 26th round.

  1. They need to get hose picks signed between Burrows and Gibson. I haven’t seen any roster moves for the Whitecaps yet, and not sure if any that have signed so far will fin in at that level. With the first half of the MiLB season done, the ‘Caps could use some help, though.
